Transmitter Site Location in HDMapper™

Q:  How can I show the site location of my transmitter for a coverage study in HDMapper?

A:  With TAP6.0.2210 or later and a Maintenance Subscription date of January 31, 2008, or later, you can use an added legend option to display the transmitter location used for the coverage study.

Note that all values in this example are for demonstration purposes only.  You should determine appropriate settings for your application.

(Note that in earlier versions you can also use the “Facility Points” function and the “Pin” function in HDMapper to display coordinate locations.)

To set the symbol, size, color, etc., see Point Symbols in HDMapper.

For example, suppose you have computed a field strength study as shown on the coverage map:

Right-click the mouse on the legend entry for the coverage layer:

In the popup menu, click “Show TX Site:”

(This function is only available for coverage layers computed with TAP.)

The site location is displayed on the map:

(Note in this tile study example that the study area is not centered on the transmitter site.  Tile studies give you that flexibility to define the area of interest for the field strength study.)

You can change the symbol or size or color of the marker with the Symbol Editing function in HDMapper after you have added the symbol.

You can also specify a different symbol to use as the default value for TX sites when you mark the transmitter site.
