TAP6 Facility Points

Q:  How can I plot the sites in my Fixed Facility data base in HDMapper?

A:  In TAP 6.0.2050 and later with a Maintenance Subscription date of January 31, 2006 or later, you can add points to the map to show the location of Fixed Facility database record coordinates.

To set the symbol, size, color, etc., see Point Symbols in HDMapper.

On the HDMapper form, click the “Show Fixed Facility Locations” button (with numerous red cross marks).

A list will be displayed for all the Fixed Facility records found that have coordinates within the current map extent:

If you want to plot all the facilities, just click the Continue button.  The site locations of the Fixed Facility records will be shown.  (If you want to exclude any of the records, just click the box next to the description to remove the check-mark.)

If you want to change the properties of any of the symbols, click the Select button (the large arrow) on the toolbar.

The “Edit Point From Map” form is displayed.  You can make changes to the description and symbol for that site.  (This function is also described in the article Symbol Editing in HDMapper.)

You can make the desired changes, and then click the Continue button:

The changes will be applied to the map:

The process of selecting the Fixed Facility records to add to the map using the Fixed Facility filtering function.  You can add other parameters to the filter.

For example, suppose you only want to show microwave facilities.  When the “Select Fixed Facility Records” form is displayed, click the Edit Filters button at the left end of the toolbar.

When the filter menu is displayed, click the Edit option.

The program will display the current filter, showing the latitude and longitude limits of the currently displayed map.  These values are used to create the selection function of the Fixed Facility records.

To add another criterion, click the AND selection:

When the new row is added, click the Field to Match and, for this example, select the TX Freq field:

For the Relation, select the “Greater than or equal” (>=) function and enter the desired frequency limit:

For this example, add another record, this time with the OR operator, and a Receiver frequency equal to or greater than 6GHz:

Using the OR operator will select records with either (or both) TX and RX frequencies in the desired range.

Click the Continue button on the Filter Setup form, and the list of records will be displayed.

Click the Continue button on the list of records and the Fixed Facility site locations will be plotted on the map.
