SoftWright LLC is pleased to announce that the 2011 U.S. NLCD data set is now available for use with our Terrain Analysis Package (TAP™) software. National Land Cover Database 2011 (NLCD2011) is a 16-class land cover classification scheme that has been applied consistently across the conterminous United States at a spatial resolution of 30 meters. NLCD2011 is based primarily on the unsupervised classification of Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper+ (ETM+) circa 2011 satellite data. SoftWright has available NLCD 2011 data in 1-by-1 degree tiles, available for purchase individually, by state, geographic area, or the entire conterminous United States. The TAP™ Land Use module is required in order to enhance your RF studies using the NLCD2011 data. The Land Use module imports USGS NLCD files and Global Land Cover (GLC) files and uses them in the radio coverage predictions and link analyses. Loss values may be defined for any frequency ranges for each specified type of land use to permit the inclusion of localized environmental conditions in predicted system performance. Recommended loss values are readily available.
The USGS NLCD files categorize land use attributes, such as Urban, Agricultural, Forest, etc. When the files are imported into the TAP™ format, TAP™can determine the classification at a given set of coordinates. In addition, TAP™ includes a Land Use Loss Database that correlates the land classification with a loss value as a function of frequency.
