TAP6 Menu

Q:  How do I use the TAP6 menu?

A:  TAP Users with a Maintenance Subscription date of August 31, 2005, and later, and TAP Version 5.0.1072 or later will be able to run TAP6.

TAP 6 is started when you run the file SWTAP6Menu.exe from the folder where TAP is installed.  The TAP6 Menu will be displayed:

As you can see, this is a completely new user-interface.  The previous functionality of TAP4 and TAP5 is still available (plus considerably more!).

The most commonly used major functions are included as large buttons:

Path launches HDPath which includes the functions for:

o       Drawing path profiles

o       Computing single-point field strength

o       UHF/VHF Link Budgets

o       Microwave Link Budgets

o       Antenna Elevation Calculations

o       Path Reflection Calculations

Area launches HDCoverage, which includes the functions for:

o       Area Coverage and Shadow study calculations

o       Field Strength Preview calculations

o       Area Elevation Grid files

Map launches HDMapper, which includes the functions for:

o       Drawing maps for coverage studies computed with TAP

o       Population counts of coverage studies

o       Drawing Path Previews between points on a map.

3DD launches the 3DDisplay, which includes the functions for:

o       Drawing 3D topographic views of Area Grid files

o       Drawing 3D views of computed coverage studies

The TAP6 Menu also includes a list of recently used Coverage Studies, Path Studies, or maps:

You can open the “tree” view of each (or all) of the categories by clicking the “+” at the left side:

As the mouse-tip describes, you can right-click on an entry to see more information about the entry.  For example, if you right-click on a coverage study, the summary of the parameters for that study are listed:

Note that the list includes all coverage studies that have been set up and saved.

If you double-click the entry for a coverage study, the program opens HDCoverage with the settings for that study displayed.

You can select a Path Study from the list:

When you right-click on the Path Study, a summary is displayed:

The TAP6 Path Studies list displays only those paths which you have saved.  This includes paths you saved manually from HDPath, as well as paths saved automatically by AutoPath.

If you double-click on a Path Study entry the program opens HDPath with that path displayed.

If you double-click on a Map Study entry, the program will open HDMapper with the computed results of that study displayed.
