TAP Topo Data Formats
Q: What kind of topographic elevation data files can be used with TAP?
A: TAP 4.5 and later, using the
TopoScriptÔ
technology, can read a variety of topo data file formats.
TAP with TopoScript can directly read the following file formats:
- SoftWright TAP native data (30-second, 3-second, 30-meter)
- DTED 30-second, 3-second, 1-second data (note 1-second DTED data cannot be
imported with the older versions of TAP.)
- USGS National Elevation Dataset (NED) data (including 3-second, 1-second, 1/3-second or other format conforming to the
.BIL specification); These files are available from
SoftWright sales.
- USGS SRTM data from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission. (This is a format described earlier by the USGS, but currently the USGS appears to plan on releasing the SRTM data in the .BIL format.)
Because of the flexibility of the TopoScript system, other data formats may be added in the future. If you have questions or if you are interested in a particular data format not listed above, please contact
SoftWright support.
