Uninstalling TAP

Q: How do I uninstall the TAP demo?

A: If you want to install an update to your TAP software, or install your licensed software to replace a demo version, it is not necessary to uninstall the previous version. You can install an update or new software into the same folder where TAP or a demo version was previously installed. (Note a newer version of this FAQ is available.)

If you need to uninstall TAP (either the demo or the licensed version) from a machine, you can use the following steps:

  1. From the Windows "Start" button, select "Settings", then "Control Panel". Select the icon labeled "Add/Remove Programs"
  2. Scroll down the list to find "Terrain Analysis Package" and highlight that line.
  3. Click the "Add/Remove" button. The Uninstall program will remove the main TAP program files.
  4. If there are any other "Terrain Analysis Package" entries, such as "Terrain Analysis Package OnLine Documentation", etc., follow the same procedure for each item.
  5. Click "OK" to close the "Add/Remove" form.
  6. Use Windows Explorer to select the SWTAP folder (or the folder where you installed TAP). Delete this folder, answering "Yes to All" to any warnings about deleting program files, read-only files, etc.
  7. Use Windows Explorer to find the file SWCONFIG.INI in your WINDOWS folder for Windows95 or Windows98, or in your WINNT folder for WindowsNT. Delete this file.

As always, if you have any questions about this process or need help, you can email or call us for support.
