Path Profile Graphic Resolution

Q:  How can I improve the appearance of my printed path profiles?

A:  You can improve the printed graphic resolution by increasing the size of the profile graphic in HDPath™.  With TAP6.0.2167 or later and a Maintenance Subscription date of May 31, 2007, or later, you can automate the process.

Note that all values in this example are for demonstration purposes only.  You should determine appropriate settings for your application.

By default, the HDPath display includes both Fixed Facility interfaces (the Transmit on the left, the Receive on the right) and the Path Settings information (below the graphic):

The printed output from HDPath (as well as HDMapper) is a copy of the bitmap from the display on the screen.  In the default configuration the area for the profile graphic is limited, so the resolution of the bitmap may be lower than desired in the printed output:

You can use the Large View function in HDPath to expand the profile graphic area to fill the screen.  With the List button depressed, right-click on the profile graphic to expand it:

The Large View function when you right-click the profile graphic enlarges the image:

The increase resolution improves the bitmap used for the print function:

You can adjust the HDPath window size and aspect ratio to change the printed output.

When you return to the HDPath form and right-click again on the expanded image, the previous configuration is restored:

Automated Large View

With TAP6.0.2167 or later and a Maintenance Subscription date of May 31, 2007, or later, you can automate the process.

In the HDPath Configuration menu, click the “Expand on Print” item.  That will place a checkmark by the item indicating it is selected.

With Expand on Print selected, when you click the Print button on the HDPath toolbar, the graphic will automatically expand for the print function.  When the printing is completed and you return to the HDPath form, the previous graphic size will be automatically restored.
