HDPath™ Range Limit Filters
Q: With several hundred records in my Fixed Facility database, how can I show only the receiver sites near my selected transmitter site?
A: With TAP6.0.2212 or later and a Maintenance Subscription date of June 30, 2009, or later, you can set a range filter distance to filter out receiver records that are farther away from the selected transmitter site.
Note that all values in this example are for demonstration purposes only. You should determine appropriate settings for your application.
Normally, in HDPath, both the Transmit facility (on the left of the form) and the Receive facility (on the right of the form) display all the records in the Fixed Facility database:
With a large number of records in the Fixed Facility database, this can be inconvenient, needing to scroll through many records to find the one you want.
[Note you may also want to use the other Filter functions for the Fixed Facility records. For example, if all of the related sites include a common name or project number in the description you can use a Filter to select only those records.]
If your facilities are grouped in different areas you can use the “Range Filter” function to limit the number of facilities shown in the Receiver section of the HDPath form.
In the Configuration menu of the HDPath form, click the “Set Range Filter” item:
The “Get Distance Value” form will be displayed. You can use this form to define a maximum distance from the Transmitter sites that you want to use.
For example if most of the paths you work with are in the 20 to 25-mile range, you could use a maximum value of 30-miles:
When the value is entered, click the Continue button. A filter will be applied to the Receiver interface to the Fixed Facility database, so that only records within the desired range will be displayed:
In this case the number of records you need to scroll through to select the desired site is substantially reduced.
To remove the range filter, go back to the Configuration menu and select the Range item (the current value will be displayed in the menu):
Enter a value of zero (0) for the range.
With a range value of zero, all the Receiver records will be displayed
