Blank Fields in Print Preview

Q:  How can I eliminate blank data fields when I print a path profile?

A:  With TAP6.0.2239 or later and a Maintenance Subscription date of June 30, 2008, or later, you can eliminate blank fields on the printed profile.

Note that all values in this example are for demonstration purposes only.  You should determine appropriate settings for your application.

With the Print Preview function in HDPath, you can select the data you want included on the printed profile with the Print Fields function in the HDPath Configuration menu.

For example, suppose you use that function to select the Transmitter Losses to be included on the printed profile:

Note that in the Transmitter Losses section of the Fixed Facility for the path, a Connector Loss value is included, but all the other loss values are empty.

The print preview for the profile (in previous versions) included all of the Transmitter Loss categories, including the blank values:

In earlier versions, the blank fields can be removed with the edit function in the Print Preview feature.

With the new version of TAP, printing the same profile shows the empty fields are not included on the Print Preview.

In order to make unused data fields empty you can edit a record, select an unwanted value, and use the backspace key on your keyboard to eliminate the value.

For example, suppose the facility record has “0” values for several data fields, such as the antenna tilt settings:

(These values may have been inserted by the program if you clicked on the field but did not edit the empty field.  The program interpreted the action as a zero value.)

Click the Edit button near the bottom of the Fixed Facility interface, select the “0” value, and use the backspace key to remove the value (Most numeric data boxes will only accept numerical characters, so the space character cannot be entered.  The backspace key will remove the value):

Then click the Save button to save the change.  The field will now be empty and will not be printed on the Print Preview.
