Use TAP to Calculate Interference Locations

Just having sufficient level of field strength is the first prerequisite of reliable coverage from a repeater or cell site. The second criteria is the quality of that signal. If you have an interfering signal that is of sufficient field strength on or near your transmitted frequency, this interference can destroy otherwise reliable service in significant areas where your received signal is sufficient.

The FAQ linked below will show you how to calculate and plot many types of these critical interference areas as well as interference-free areas. Many times the results of these studies can be counterintuitive, due to the wide variance of topography and location of both the desired repeater site and the location of the interfering site.

  • TAP Seminar - October 6-7, 2008
  •    Our fourth quarterly TAP Engineering Seminar for 2008 is scheduled for October 6-7, 2008 at the SoftWright Conference Center in Aurora CO.

If you have not attended a TAP seminar in several years, you would benefit greatly with the interactive training approach that we have developed. You will leave here having actually run much of the TAP software and solved a number of design problems using the wide diversity of the TAP software tools.

  • Export Coverage into GIS Software
  •    One of the most useful benefits of using the Terrain Analysis Package Software (TAP) is that you can export the coverage calculations to a georeferenced database to import into GIS systems that are presently in use in your operations.

There are three different export formats for the calculated field strength data. This allows your company or agency to easily check for radio field strength right along with any other information that they might normally check within your area of fleet and user locations of operation.
