New HDSpectrum Software Released in TAP
Users of the Terrain Analysis Package who have licensed the
Intermodulation Products module can now view their frequency
spectrum in the graphical form similar to a spectrum analyzer
display using the TAP HD Spectrum interface.
In the past intermod software was often accused of generating
reams of paper output that no one really examined. SoftWright has
been developing and enhancing their intermod software for over 20
years to make its output more meaningful than most other
intermodulation product software tools.
While it is easy to mathematically generate combinations of
potential combinations of transmitted frequencies, SoftWright has
developed a tool that will allow the engineer to examine the
resultant potential hit frequencies in many ways. With HDSpectrum
you can analyze potential intermodulation products as well as the
participating frequencies, which can create the problems. It can
properly consider broadcast, simplex, half-duplex, and full-duplex
facilities. The software can also take into account the deviation of
the transmitted frequencies as well as the user-specified bandwidth
around a protected or received frequency. This newest capability
also depicts all portions of the database in the format of the video
display of a spectrum analyzer.
This new feature is provided to all our customers at no
additional charge, if you have the TAP Intermod module as a part of
your TAP system and a current maintenance subscription. If you would
like to add this capability to your TAP system with a current
software maintenance subscription and the Intermod module, please
contact us.

Import Intermod Frequency Data from Excel into
TAP |
| |
If you have been keeping your official records of
transmitted and protected frequencies in an Excel spreadsheet,
you will want to read our latest FAQ. You can now import data
from Excel to perform intermod studies. You can then look at
the entire frequency spectrum of transmitted and received
frequencies as well as the potential intermodulation products
directly in HD Spectrum. This new portion of the TAP
Intermodultation Products (IM) module operates very much like
a conventional spectrum analyzer.

Improve your Path Profile
Resolution |
| |
You can improve the resolution of your path profile
printouts by following the procedures on this newly added FAQ.
While this is not a new feature in the TAP software, our
product support department has written this new detailed FAQ
to explain the process in detail.

TAP Engineering Seminar - January 14-15,
2008 |
| |
The next TAP Engineering Seminar is scheduled for
January 14-15, 2008 and the SoftWright Conference Center in
our office. We have space available for approximately eight
more persons at the October session. The date for the one that
follows this spring is April 7-8, 2008.
If you have not attended a TAP seminar in several years,
you would benefit greatly with the interactive training
approach that we have developed. You will leave here having
actually run much of the TAP software and solved a number of
design problems using the wide diversity of the TAP software
tools.

How Are You Using TAP? |
| |
We are looking for some of our TAP users to let us know
how they are using their software in an unusual way. Perhaps
you would be surprised to learn that some persons are doing
weather radar system design and others doing interference
protection for radio telescopes.
If you are doing a particularly interesting application
with any of the TAP software, we would welcome information on
that and might be able to provide some publicity for your
operation if you would like that. Send any of us an email with
some of the details and we will get back to you.
