Which Coverage is
Better?
 Using the Terrain Analysis Package
(TAP)tm software, you can calculate radio coverage
predictions drawing from several thousand antenna
patterns in the TAP antenna pattern library or patterns
that you have imported from major antenna manufacturers.
When you compare various coverage plots, it is sometimes
difficult to decide which has the best coverage. There
can be several legitimate measuring sticks.
The first one is coverage area comparisons. For years
now one of the options in TAP is to calculate the
coverage area in square miles (or sq. km.) for each
system under consideration. Comparison of the size of
coverage areas will quickly reveal which site, antenna
selected, or which antenna height above the ground will
yield the largest coverage area, for a specified field
strength.
A new feature in TAP is the ability to also calculate
the population recieving a certain level of field
strength. Using the ShapeFiles provided with your TAP
software (for versions of TAP with a Maintenance
Subscription expiration date after 11/30/04) you can now
calculate the population comparisons between coverage
maps. The original files supplied at no additional cost
contain the population data for 1990. We now have the
latest census data files taken from the 2000 census and
they are available to update these previous ShapeFile
databases. If you would like a quotation for these new
population data files for your region, please contact
our sales deparment. Pricing is $250/state, $1000 for
six states or $4500 for the entire US.

If you will be attending the
APCO 2005 conference August 22-24, 2005, at the
Colorado Convention Center in downtown, Denver,
please stop by and visit us at booth 1004. Please
email us to recieve free passes to the exhibit
hall for the show.
The TAP software is used by many public safety
telecom engineers to assist in their design and
diagnosis of a wide variety of rf-based systems
including two-way radio, microwave, EMS data
links, and other critical radio
communication-based systems.

SoftWright Awarded a GSA
Contract |
| |
As of April 29, 2005,
SoftWright LLC became a registered contractor,
fully vetted by the General Services
Administration, to do business direct with the US
Federal Government, as well as state and local
governments through April 28, 2010. "This 5-year
contract will enable us to better serve our
current governmental customer base, as well as
make it even easier to start doing business with
prospective government clients," says SoftWright's
president, Larry Ellis, P.E. While the process
took a lot of time, it will be well worth the
effort to be able to provide a simple way to
locate and procure our software at the very best
price. Radio frequency design engineers and
technicians only need access to the GSA
information on our web site to quickly find out
more about the Terrain Analysis Package (TAP)
software and how it may be acquired though this
contract.
This contract applies only to cooperating
government agencies for purchase of IT products
and services. The Department of Homeland Security
is now the parent agency to such current TAP users
as the US Border Patrol, FEMA, all branches of the
US Military, US Forest Service and the Federal
Aviation Administration to name but a few. Have a
look at our Capability Statement to see exactly
what SoftWright has to offer and which NAICS, SIC
and SIN codes apply. All you need to do is put our
GSA Federal Contract No. 35F0530R on your purchase
order and we can fill the order with a minimum of
red tape. SoftWright is the only provider of rf
design software tools to be an approved GSA
Contractor.
