TAP 5.0 Released

Effective June 1, 2005, SoftWright is pleased to announce the release of a new generation of rf coverage presentation tools. TAP 5.0 has an entirely new engine for the layout and presentation of coverage maps. The familiar user capabilities of the past, will continue but the new mapping is done in the HD Mapper (for high-definition mapping software).

The HD Mapper is not a new module. For those whose software maintenance subscription is 20040601 (June 1, 2004, or later), this new capability will be installed when you download and install release number 1000 or later. If you are not currently on a current software maintenance subscription, this will be supplied, upon purchase and activation of a new software maintenance subscription.

   Greetings from SoftWright!

  • New TAP Version 5.0 Makes Presentation Quality Coverage Maps
  •    The centerpiece of TAP 5.0 is an entirely new mapping software called HD (High-definition) Mapper. This state- of-the art GIS mapping software makes is much easier to use than our previous versions. It is consistent with new mapping software used in many other quality database driven software packages. Maps are generated with layers which can be turned on or off. Layers can be any shape files which conform to the ESRI international standards. See the article below about some of the power of using shape files.

The rest of TAP 5.0 retains the many familiar rf design tools that are easily used. Coverage studies become one of the many layers that can be plotted on the maps. You have extensive control over the colorizing of each layer and line widths. Because these are all vector files, there is no pixilation when you zoom in to see a region up close.

  • Standardized GIS Shapefiles Used in TAP 5.0 for High-Quality Map Overlays
  •    The newest version of TAP can read and plot these files obtained from many sources. As a great start, we will supply you with files for all 50 states the US. These include main roads, Interstate highways, rivers, lakes, city locations and principal roads. For most regions outside the US we provide files that can produce very good presentation grade maps as well.

TAP 5.0 will allow you to import standardized shapefiles obtained from any source. Many municipalites and utilities create these files and use them in their many operations employing GIS technology. If you can obtain these files for your localized regions, they also may be included in your maps. We are also preparing detailed street mapping files which you may purchase to add even more detail to your maps.

  • The 3D Display Module Now Available
  •    As a part of TAP 5.0 you can now add 3D plotting of terrain and radio coverage within TAP. You no longer have to export files into Surfer and then reconfigure the details of the file to make beautiful presentations of your engineering calculated coverage.

It can be added to your existing TAP software for a cost of $450.00. If you have previously purchased Surfer, we are offering a discounted pricing of $150 to add this capability.

  • TAP Engineering Seminar - September 13-14
  •    We are currently hosting a TAP engineering seminar June 7-8. Consider attending the next one in September to quickly acquaint you with the many new TAP features.

  • Unusual Application of TAP
  •    If you have used TAP in a project that might be of interest to other TAP users, please consider writing a short article and sending to us one or two graphics that can illustrate your resourseful use of TAP to make a system design more reliable. Submit your articles, graphics or photographs to us for possible publication.

  • How can SoftWright help you do your Work?
  •    How can SoftWright assist you with TAP's rf system design tools? When persons purchase software for a professional application, they are interested in far more than just software. They want to have access to knowledgable persons who will answer questions about how predictive and diagnostic calcualtions are made within the software.

They want to know that there is quality training both on the web and in person that will equip them to do their jobs efficiently. We strive to set the standard in both of these arenas.

Here are clear details about how we can help you...
