SoftWright has been active in the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-8.18 engineering subcommittee since 2014.  This subcommittee establishes standardized methodologies for modeling and simulating wireless communications in public safety systems.  Over the past two years, it has undertaken the update of Telecommunications Systems Bulletin (TSB)-88.2 and the creation of TSB-88.4 and TSB-88.5 to address the coming introduction of broadband systems (most notably in the 700MHz band in the U.S.).  TSB-88.2E was recently published, with the publication of TSB-88.4 and TSB-88.5 also expected in the near future.

SoftWright’s Dr. Todd Summers is now the chair for Working Group 8.18.1, which is responsible for TSB (Telecommunications Systems Bulletin)-88.1 and TSB-88.3.  These documents specifically address performance modeling and verification, respectively, for narrowband wireless systems; they are not currently being updated.
