Launch Delay
Q: What in the "Launch Delay" in the Aggregate Coverage Simulcast Delay Spread calculation?
A: Simulcast calculations include the delay of the signal phasing from two (or more) different transmitters resulting from the different distance the signal travels to get to a particular receive location. It is also possible to introduce a delay in the signal leaving a transmitter to affect the phasing. The "Launch Delay" allows you to enter a value into the Aggregate Coverage program to include this delay in addition to the distance delay. This combined delay value is then considered in the simulcast calculations for each receive location in the study.
For example, suppose you define an Aggregate Coverage study using the Simulcast (Delay Spread) method:
When you click the Continue button, the Launch Delays form will be displayed:
If the transmitter sites involved in the study have phasing differences introduced you can enter the delay in microseconds (uSec) for each affected facility.
