HDPath™ Zoom Rectangle

Q:  How can I zoom into a specific part of a path profile I want to examine in detail?

A:  With TAP6.0.2213 or later and a Maintenance Subscription date of February 29, 2007, or later, you can draw a box on the profile to select the portion to display.

Note that all values in this example are for demonstration purposes only.  You should determine appropriate settings for your application.

With earlier versions of HDPath, you can use the basic Zoom function that enables you to click a point on the profile graphic, and the program will enlarge that area of the profile.  The Zoom Rectangle function provides much greater control over the zoom area.

For example, suppose you have drawn a path profile and you want to examine a section in more detail:

You can collapse sections of the HDPath form by clicking on the Section Headings, such as the “Fixed Facility – Transmit” label:

Clicking on that label will collapse the section and enlarge the profile graphic section of the form:

Similarly, clicking the other Section Headings will collapse those sections and expand the profile graphic.

Clicking the collapsed Section Headings will expand the sections again.

To actually zoom into a specific part of the profile (whether the graphic is expanded or not), click the Zoom Box button on the HDPath toolbar:

You will be prompted to draw a rectangle with the mouse.  Left-click one corner, then drag the mouse (holding the button) to the opposite corner and release the mouse button

The profile will be redrawn with the selected section shown:

Note that the “Set Profile Scales” button is automatically depressed.

The “Set Profile Scales” button is used to set the limits of distance and elevation by entering specific desired values (rather than the graphic method described here).  You can return to the full profile display by clicking the button again:
