TAP Updates

Q: How do I download updates form the SoftWright web site?

A: If you are currently using TAP build 250 or later (such as Version 4.0.251, 4.1.251, or 4.2.251) you can download an update file.   The update from our web site does not include all of the components for the TAP system, and is intended only to update existing systems that were installed from our CD.  If you install only the update file without the complete TAP software installed, it will not function correctly.

If you do not have build 250 or later installed, you must first install the complete TAP software from a SoftWright CD, or from the CD file you can download from our web site.  The file can be downloaded, then executed. It is a self-extracting installation program.  Although the download refers to the TAP Demo, the software will run as your licensed copy when installed with your TAP license file.

If you install the software (the update or the complete installation) on a machine that has your older version of TAP installed, be sure to install the new software in the same folder (typically C:\SWTAP). Installing a new copy of the software in a different folder (resulting in two copies on the same machine) will confuse the Windows Registry and cause problems later running the software.

This file will update to the current build, and will maintain the same version as is currently licensed on your TAP system. For example, if you are currently using TAP Version 4.1.347, the installing the file from the web site for release 532 will update your TAP system to 4.1.532.

There is a link to the update file at the bottom of the first page of the SoftWright web site.  The web page also includes information about the current build number and the date it was released.

Please fill out the brief form displayed for downloading the file to help us keep accurate records of the release you have so we can notify you of future updates, new features, etc.
