Interpolated Contours from Radial Field Values

Q: Once I have run a radial field study how can I get an interpolated contour from the field strength values?

A: A data base of radial field strength values is created when you execute a radial or contour study from HDCoverage. You can use the results in that data base to compute additional interpolated field strength contours.  The contour distances are computed from the field strength values computed along the radials as described in  the Contour Interpolation Calculation article.

From the TAP Area menu, select the "Contour from Computed Field" option:

For TAP5 and earlier, from the TAP Coverage menu, select the "Contour from Computed Field" option:

A list of the existing results data bases will be displayed. Click on the selection button at the left of the row to highlight the task with the radial field values:

In the "Results section, be sure the radial field study is selected. (If other contours have been computed, they will also be contained in the task results.)

Click the "Continue" button.

When the task is selected, the Interpolate Contour form is displayed:

The "Source Task" section summarizes the selected task, including any contours already contained in the data base:

Enter the value (in dBu) of the new contour you want to interpolate:

Select the level of detail (if any) you want to save in a text file. The text file will be located in the WORK subdirectory located below your TAP directory (such as C:\SWTAP\WORK) and will be named Tnnnnnnn.TXT, where nnnnnnn is the task ID:

Click the "Continue" button to start the contour interpolation.

When the interpolation is completed, a message box is displayed. Click the "OK" button.
