Training Question: Does this site cover Douglas County?

Given a transmitter site and a receiver specification, does the facility provide adequate signal?

The transmitter site is:

The receiver requires 0.5uV and has a 0dB gain antenna and 0dB internal losses, but should allow for 30dB body losses.

From the Coverage menu, select "Area Coverage":

The TAP Area Coverage Setup form is displayed:

Click the New button to create a new study.
For the Study "Description" enter Douglas County Test Study
For the Transmitter Facility, use the "Fixed Facility Lookup" button to find the Castle Rock facility in the data base.

For the Coverage Area, select "Radials from site" for the type of study. Be sure the "Use Advanced Settings" box is not checked. Enter 72 for the number of radials. Enter 35 miles for the distance from the transmitter, and 0.5 miles for the distance between points.
For the Topographic Data, check the "3-second" and "30-second" boxes. Enter 0.1 miles for the topo data increment. Use the "Config" button to be sure the topographic data configuration includes the data files on your system.
For the Propagation model, select Bullington (or another model if Bullington is not licensed on your system). Use the "Edit" button to be sure the propagation model parameters are set to your specifications.
For the Mobile Facility, use the "Lookup" button to open the Mobile Facility data base. Use the "New" button on the Mobile Facility Lookup form to create a new record.

Enter the values as shown for the new record.
Click the "Required Field Lookup" button to compute the field strength necessary for the specified receiver configuration.
On the Required Field Strength form, enter a "Receiver Threshold" of 0.5uV and 0dB gain for the antenna.

You can use the ID function on the Map Window toolbar to highlight Douglas county.

This map shows which parts of the county would not be expected to receive adequate service for the specified conditions.
